The story
Deeper grooves, less deflection
A 12 mm shank is much stiffer than 8 mm, which matters on deep grooves, worktop joints and template work in solid timber. The 40 mm cutting length reaches through thick stock and the carbide blades plunge cleanly, leaving straight walls for housings and recesses.
For the big routers
It fits the OF 1400 and OF 2200 with their 12 mm collets. For the best results take several passes, keep the speed moderate in hardwood and extract the chips with a CLEANTEC extractor through the router base. A sharp cutter also reduces burning on end grain.
