The story
Who it suits
This is the combi drill for teams that have moved their heavy tools to XGT and want one battery type across the van. It handles general screwdriving, 38 mm holes in timber, 13 mm in steel and 13 mm plug holes in masonry, which covers most fixing work in fit-out and construction.
How it is built
The drill has all-metal gears, a 13 mm keyless chuck, an electric brake, a job light and constant-speed electronics. XPT seals and drainage paths protect it on dusty, wet sites. Peak torque is 70 Nm (64/30 Nm hard/soft), so it is a general-purpose drill rather than a replacement for the 18V heavy-hitters.
System fit
It takes every XGT battery from 2.5 Ah to 8.0 Ah and charges on the DC40RA, so it can share packs with XGT hammers, saws and grinders. The UK version HP002GZ01 ships in a Type 2 MAKPAC; the plain HP002GZ is a bare tool for users who already have cases.
