The story
Strip-out and rough cutting
Plumbers, electricians and renovation crews use a reciprocating saw to cut out old pipework, studs, joists and anything with nails in it. The DCS382 is short at 393 mm, which helps between joists and under sinks, while its 29 mm stroke clears chips quickly in timber and speeds up cuts through steel tube.
Flexible blade positions
The keyless blade clamp accepts blades teeth-down or teeth-up, and the second position makes flush cuts against walls and floors easier. The pivoting shoe stays in contact with the work to cut vibration and blade breakage, and an LED lights the cut in dark voids.
Everyday 18V tool
At 2.3 kg without battery it is light enough for overhead cutting, and it runs on any 18V XR pack. It is sold as a bare tool, so it slots into a crew's existing battery fleet, and a TSTAK version is also offered.
