Why this one
01
8.0 J impact energy
16–35 mm optimal, 40 mm maximum in concrete.
02
Low vibration
AVT keeps hammer drilling to 4.6 m/s².
03
Kickback shut-off
AFT cuts the motor if the bit binds.
04
AWS adapter included
Starts a paired extractor automatically.
The story
Large holes without a cable
Structural anchors, through-holes for pipes and ducting, and core drilling for services are the jobs for this hammer. At 8.0 J and 2,900 blows per minute it drills 40 mm in concrete and runs 105 mm TCT core bits. It also chisels, so it doubles as a light demolition hammer for removing screed and tiles.
Engineered for long use
AVT keeps vibration to 4.6 m/s² when hammer drilling and 3.7 m/s² when chiselling, low figures for a tool of this size. AFT stops the motor if the bit jams, and soft start makes collaring on a hard surface easier. Twin LEDs with afterglow light the drilling point.
Connected to the system
The UK HR005GZ01 comes with side handles and a wireless adapter for AWS, so a Makita extractor starts with the trigger. Runs on XGT batteries shared with the rest of the 40Vmax range; it is also a common hire item for occasional heavy jobs.
