The story
For strip-out and chasing
Renovation crews, plumbers and electricians use a chipping hammer to lift tiles, break out plaster and render, open walls for pipework and trim concrete. The TE 500-22 is designed for wall work, with 8.1 J per blow at 3300 blows per minute, and it takes standard SDS-max chisels.
Without the cable
Hilti positions it as doing the same range of work as a comparable corded demolition hammer. Active Vibration Reduction holds vibration at 8.7 m/s², and the grip unit and clamping band in the case give a second handhold. It measures 528 mm long, short enough for work between joists.
Range and dust
Batteries are shared with the Nuron drills, saws and breakers. With the TE DRS-B hood and a compatible Hilti extractor, most of the fine dust is captured at the chisel tip. Hilti rates it for the full range of tasks of a comparable corded chipping hammer, so one tool can cover both roles.
