## Summary

The DC18RC is Makita's standard single-port rapid charger for 14.4V and 18V LXT batteries. It charges a 5.0 Ah pack in about 45 minutes and uses a cooling fan to keep the battery temperature down.

## Why this one

- **45-minute 5.0 Ah charge**: 15–120 minutes across the LXT range.
- **Cooling fan**: Keeps the battery cool while charging.
- **14.4V and 18V**: Charges every LXT slide battery.

## The story

### The LXT workhorse charger

Supplied in most LXT kits, the DC18RC charges every 14.4V and 18V LXT slide battery from 1.3 Ah to 12.0 Ah. Charge times range from 15 minutes for small packs to 120 minutes for the largest, so one charger covers the whole range.

### Why fan cooling matters

A fan blows air through the battery during charging so it can charge faster and last longer, even after heavy use has warmed the pack. The 2.0 m cable reaches from a site socket or van inverter, and the compact housing fits in a MAKPAC.
